Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)
v1: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.
- Faith in Jesus is not blind faith, but a highly rational and vital decision that considers several historical proofs for the Resurrection of Jesus as well as over 300 fulfilled Old Testament prophecies.
v1-2a: And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
- We begin by faith and we continue by faith, placing our trust in a real and living person, Jesus.
v2b: For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
- Jesus considerd it joy to endure the cross because he accomplished the will of the Father to provide a saving sacrifice to pay for the penalty of our sins.
